SUGAR DIVISION - BAHERI (UTTAR PRADESH)

The Sugar Factory was established at Baheri; District Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh in 1933 and had commenced production of sugar in its very first season with a crushing capacity of 800 TCD. Since then, in its pursuit to achieve a benchmark, its capacity has been increased to 7200 TCD.

CANE

Sugarcane quality plays a vital role in achieving higher profitability. KEL has given the right thrust to its cane development programs with its broad-based initiatives in encouraging and educating the local farmers. Through these programs, it is ensured that any breakthrough in research and development is implemented in the sugar cane fields.

Farmers are persuaded to grow higher sugar-yielding varieties of sugarcane by offering them cash incentives and subsidies on seeds. Cane growing competitions, farmers meetings and educational camps are also conducted to promulgate latest techniques in agricultural technology. KEL keeps a track of the latest technology in seed replacement, soil treatment fertilizer usage, disease prevention, regular surveys are also undertaken to ensure that the right steps are implemented.

PRODUCTION

The large-scale sugar production enables a value addition of its by-products. Keeping this in view, KEL has enhanced its production & invested in value addition. Considering that the infrastructure and technology are already available at KEL, it would enable KEL to move ahead confidently into forward integrated areas.

Today, with a judicious blend of planning and modern technology, the plant has very high efficiency levels with reduced energy consumption.

FUTURE EXPANSION / MODERNISATION

KEL has plans to set up 45 MW Bagasse based Cogeneration Plant.

QUALITY

The sugar produced by KEL is of superior quality and commands a high premium over other brands in the market. However, even with all these standards that have been set, KEL is not content to merely rest on its laurels alone.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

KEL has been augmenting rural infrastructure like building/repairing roads, improving drainage facilities, building culverts, etc. KEL also organizes periodic health camps and undertake tree plantation drives.
