Mr. H. R. Kilachand - Chairman & Managing Director

Mr. H. R. Kilachand was a student of St. Mary's High School and Cathedral & John Cannon School, Mumbai. He graduated in Commerce from Sydenam College of Commerce, Mumbai. Thereafter, he went on to complete C.B.M. and Post Graduation in Business Management from the University of California, L.A. (U.S.A) He joined KEL in August 1985 as an “Executive”. He was entrusted with the duties of administration, co-ordination and also to plan & supervise projects for modernisation and expansion of KEL’s activities. He contributed a lot in his first decade towards the growth of KEL. He had efficiently carried out the duties entrusted to him, including completion of the expansion & modernisation of Sugar Factory, Distillery, ENA & IMFL Plants and also a second Storage Terminal at Kandla. In March 1997, he was appointed as “Joint Managing Director” and since August 1997 he is the Chairman & Managing Director of KEL.

Mr. A. S. Ruia

He was appointed as a Director in March 1985. He is an Industrialist and is on the Board of various other companies. He is having a vast experience in sugar & distillery industries.

Mr. K Kannan

He is the former Chairman & Managing Director of Bank of Baroda. He is a Fellow Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants and also a Member of Institute of Cost & Works Accountants. He has 35 years of vast experience in the field of Banking & Finance.

Mr. K. D Sheth

He is B.Com. & Company Secretary by qualification. He had joined KEL in September 1943 and worked for 52 years continuously. He gave dedicated service to the Company initially as the Chief Accountant and subsequently as a Company Secretary. After his retirement in May 1995 his services were availed by the Company as “Corporate Adviser” and thereafter from November 1996 he has been on the Board of KEL.

Mr. I. S. Phukela

He is B.E. - Mechanical, representing General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC) being non-promoter shareholder. He has 30 years of experience in the field of General Insurance with Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd. & The New India Assurance Co. Ltd.
Presently he is working as General Manager in The New India Assurance Co. Ltd., Mumbai.

Mrs. M. H. Kilachand

She was appointed as a Director of KEL in September 2005. She is the wife of Mr. H. R. Kilachand, Chairman & Managing Director of KEL and a Promoter Director. She is an Arts Graduate with specialization in Psychology & Literature from Mumbai University. She has about 8 to 9 years experience in General Administration and running the business of Group Companies as Director.

Mr. N. J. Vakil

He was appointed as a Director of KEL in September 2006.Shri Nimish J. Vakil is an Advocate and Solicitor. He is a partner of M/s Tyabji Dayabhai, Advocate, Solicitors and Notary, Mumbai. He qualified as Solicitor in Mumbai in the year 1991 and thereafter in London in the year 1992. He deals in matters relating to banking, finance, real estate, litigation and arbitration. He has represented various domestic and international banks, aircraft leasing Companies, aircraft manufacturers and airlines

Mr. Ajeet Prasad

He has joined the Board of the Company as an Additional Director w.e.f 29.1.2010 He is B.Sc, MBA by qualification and is the former Executive Director of UTI AMC Ltd. He is having about 33 years of experience in mutual fund, banking operations, implementation of financial services and designing strategies. He has vast experience in the area of Investment Monitoring Function like Merger, Amalgamation, Demerger etc. during his tenure in UTI AMC Ltd. and also in his capacity as the Managing Director & CEO of ASREC (India) Ltd., an Asset Reconstruction Company floated by UTI and other leading Public & Private Banks / Financial Institutions.
